Charles Werner

Charles Werner is the President of Training Innovations, Inc. and the creator of the TMS Training Management System software for managing training records. This system is used by over 240 law enforcement and fire agencies in California and Oregon.

Chuck is a self-taught programmer. He started in the early 80’s writing BASIC programs on a Radio Shack hand-held and storing data on a cassette tape. He graduated to a Magnavox Odyssey and then to an XT clone in short order. By that time he was hooked.

He has been developing in FoxPro since the Fox+ days and has been using the Visual FoxExpress framework since 1998. He has been using Crystal VFE since 2002 and uses Crystal VFE 2.0 and Crystal Reports XI in the latest release of his TMS software. He is a CVFE beta tester and frequent contributor to the CVFE forum.

He worked twenty-five years for the Montebello Police Department, seven of those as the Training Manager, rising to the rank of Captain. His diverse experience provides a broad view of police training and automation issues from operational, management, and technological perspectives. He is now "retired" to Horse Creek, CA where he develops software and enjoys the country life.

Chuck has taught classes for Police Recruits and experienced Officers at the police academy and has made many other presentations in law enforcement and computer-related topics. He has written for FoxTalk magazine.
